Digital asset
trading risks

Digital asset trading involves risk. These points are a general introduction, not a complete assessment of any transaction or personal advice.

Prices can move quickly

Digital assets can experience large price movements. You can lose some or all of the capital committed to a trade. An OTC conversation does not protect you from changes in market value.

Quotes have conditions

Confirm whether a quote is indicative or executable, when it expires and what constitutes acceptance. Understand the costs and obligations before agreeing.

Counterparty and settlement risks remain

Check the contracting entity, funding process and settlement arrangements. Bank processing, blockchain congestion and operational issues can delay completion.

Transfers need careful checking

Sending digital assets to the wrong address or using the wrong network can result in irreversible loss. Verify beneficiary details and settlement instructions through a trusted channel.

Rules and protections vary

Eligibility, legal treatment and available protections depend on the asset, service and jurisdiction. Company registration alone is not evidence of authorisation for every financial product. Confirm the terms relevant to your proposed trade.

Keep your own position in view

Consider whether you understand the transaction and can bear the potential loss. Seek independent professional advice where needed, including on tax and legal obligations.

Find an OTC answer

Search our FAQs or prepare an enquiry for the team. This is a guide to published information.

What is crypto OTC trading?

OTC means over-the-counter. Instead of placing an order on a public exchange order book, you discuss a trade directly with a desk and agree its price, size and settlement terms.

What is Lumora launching with?

Lumora is launching with crypto OTC trading through a dedicated desk. You can discuss a proposed buy or sell with our team, complete onboarding and agree the quoted terms before proceeding.

Which assets and currencies can I trade?

Ask the desk to confirm the asset, trading pair, settlement currency and network for your proposed trade. Availability should be confirmed before you transfer funds or digital assets.

Is there a minimum trade size?

Contact the desk for the minimum that applies to your proposed asset and settlement currency. Confirm the requirement before progressing with the trade.

How is an OTC price agreed?

A quote sets out the proposed trade terms. Before accepting, confirm the amount you will pay or receive, any fees, the expiry of the quote and the settlement arrangements. An enquiry is not a trade instruction.

What do I need to get started?

Start with the asset, whether you want to buy or sell, the approximate size and your preferred timing. The desk can then explain eligibility, verification and the information needed for onboarding.

How long does settlement take?

Settlement depends on the trade terms, funding method, banking hours and the blockchain network involved. Confirm the timing and any dependencies with the desk before accepting a quote.

Can a business enquire?

Yes. A business can begin by describing its proposed trade and who is authorised to act for it. The desk will need to confirm whether the business and transaction are eligible before onboarding.

Is a website enquiry a confirmed trade?

No. Preparing or sending an enquiry does not place an order, lock a price or create an executable quote. A trade requires separately agreed terms and an accepted quote.

What should I check before transferring funds?

Confirm the instructions through a trusted Lumora channel. Check the beneficiary or wallet address, blockchain network, amount, reference and settlement deadline. Pause if any instruction changes unexpectedly.
